Remedies that work on vacation

Here are a few simple relief remedies from the summer sun. These are all natural remedies help with relieving sunburns, bites and poison ivy.

Sunburns:

Try Apple cider vinegar. Add 2 cups to a lukewarm bath, and soak for ten minutes. Apple cider is a natural anti-inflammatory which helps to soothe sunburned skin. The acetic acid in apple cider can also slough of dead cells and prevent blisters.

Itchy Bug bites:

Coconut oil contains an antibacterial and is naturally moisturizing to the skin which helps reduce itchiness and calms irritation. Most coconut oil is found in your kitchen or you can use a coconut oil based treatment like Cocokind’s All Purpose Salve ($11; cocokind.com).

Posion Ivy or Oak

Green tea and aloe. Green tea contains catechins, antioxidants that are high in anti-inflammatories and together they may help with a quicker recover time. Mix equal parts tea and aloe, apply over the infected area with a wash cloth or your hands, besure to wash your hands afterwards.
